What is INTERCEPT Technology™?
INTERCEPT Technology™ (sometimes referred to as Reactive Copper Polymer) is a copper-based scavenging corrosion protection packaging method. This system eliminates the need for secondary protection such as oils, waxes, or harmful solvents thus creating safer and cleaner working environments.
How Does The Technogy Works?
Inside the polymer (the plastic) of an Intercept bag, there are millions of highly reactive copper particles permanently bonded into the material. These particles turn the entire bag into a giant active sacrificial sponge(active protection).
- Cleansing the Inside: The moment you seal a part inside, the copper particles immediately begin reacting with the "trapped" air. It neutralizes corrosive gases (H2S, SO2, O3, NOx, etc.) already inside the bag within about an hour.
- The "Torturous Path": As outside gases try to permeate (leak) through the plastic over time, they have to navigate a "maze" of reactive copper. It is statistically impossible for a gas molecule to pass through the film without hitting a copper particle and being permanently neutralized.
- Neutralizing the Electrolyte: Even if moisture (H2S) gets inside, Intercept strips that moisture of its corrosive "passengers" (like salts or acids). Without those triggers, the water becomes much less reactive, significantly slowing down any corrosion.
- Creating a Micro-Environment: It transforms the air inside the package into a high-purity, "clean" atmosphere, similar to an inert gas environment, but without needing a vacuum seal.
